Sending sports from Saratoga Springs
Spring break? Nope. Plenty of action to read about this week.
At least two-thirds of my 24 years with The Scarsdale Inquirer I attended the New York Press Association’s annual convention and it was always a highlight of March/April. And most years it snowed, even if it was just a few flakes. Kind of a tradition. Not likely this year, but this year is very different. I’m not here representing the Inquirer (and I’m not up for any awards because sadly they didn’t get entered this year). I’m here as the publisher of The Raider/Panther Reporter. My application for digital newspaper membership in the NYPA was officially approved this morning by the board of directors. I’m proud of this and what I’ve built with the help of the community in just a few short months.
I’ve been attending seminars all day while finishing up this week’s issue. I’m trying to get new ideas on funding to keep this going whether it be subscriptions, memberships, donations, advertisements or sponsorships. For those who have already participated in any of these ways, I thank you, and so do all the people who are able to read on you dime.
Enjoy this week’s issue. Look inside for tons of coverage and ways to contribute. Email me about sponsorships and advertising toddsliss@gmail.com. And any other ideas.
Finishing up my final seminar of the day, then off for a bike ride around Saratoga Spa State Park and finally the annual NYPA gala. Then do it all again tomorrow.
Happy reading.
